USF Professor Teaches CRT, Researches "Whiteness and Education"

University of San Francisco professor Colette N. Cann teaches Critical Race Theory and researches “Whiteness and Education,” “Race in K12,” and race in higher education, according to her university faculty profile.

USF lists Critical Race Theory and “Race and Education” among Cann’s areas of expertise. Her profile states that she teaches “critical race theory, praxis and methodology,” “critical media analysis,” and “racism in higher education.”

Cann is currently an associate dean for Academic Affairs and Faculty Advancement in USF’s School of Education.

Her published scholarship also focuses on race and education.

USF lists among her selected publications a 2016 article titled “A reboot of Derrick Bell’s ‘The Space Traders’: using racial hypos to teach white pre-service teachers about race and racism” in Whiteness and Education.
