Seasons come and go. We enter from childhood, to teenagehood, into adulthood. We change locations.  Life brings many changes. If you’re like me, you’ve recently graduated college and are either working, interning, or looking for jobs or internships. You might not feel ready to leave your college dorm and friends behind. If you lived in an apartment or still with your parents you weren’t or aren’t ready ti leave your friends and professors. You may wonder if your friends will still be in your life after college because everybody goes different places. Some stay in the same place for a while.

At college, I’ve definitely found my place and people, and was sad to leave my department and friends and professors. Yet we still connect over email or social media.

Other than that the big question is: what do you want to do with your life? It’s a loaded question. Some know immediately after college and some are still thinking. I want to be a content writer and journalist. I just completed an internship at my alma mater, Malone University where I studied history. I was a writing intern for university relations. I served on the multicultural service team and as a staff writer for the student-run newspaper, The Aviso. I’m currently volunteer-writing as a local nonprofit and working full-time. I've also accepted a position as a PR intern at another nonprofit and also became a volunteer English tutor at another nonprofit.

You may already have internships lined up or jobs or are still looking. I’ve been there. I’ve applied to two jobs and got rejected. I also applied to an internship during my senior year of college and got rejected– another catch was I didn’t even get an interview. I also applied for a content writing position only to find out they were no longer offering the position.

Job searching is hard and exhausting. Sometimes you may feel hopeless. I’ve been there. And trust me, it gets better.

At the same thing I’m thinking about what to do as a career. I want to be a content writer & journalist. For that I’m considering stepping into freelance writing. Been doing a lot of research and have read many articles that suggested starting a blog and finding a niche.

So…. why this blog?

I want to step into the world of freelance writing and gain more experience doing that as well as corporate writing. I recently got accepted as a reporter intern at a Christian magazine. I do plan to possibly become a freelance reporter once I finish the internship.

As I consider the stuff I’ve written, mostly pertaining to faith, vocation and education I’ve discovered that those are the things I want to write about. Education might be particularly difficult because I’m still learning how to cite sources, but I’m willing to try.

I  want to help young people improve their communication skills. I also want to use my skills to share my faith and understand people in society.

So.. without further ado, hello, my name is Esther and welcome to my blog.
