History of Camp Wakonda

My History Senior Seminar class embarked on a historical research project on the history of Christ Presbyterian Church's Camp Wakonda. We interviewed former campers and camp counselors about their experiences at the camp  and compiled information into a slides presentation and presented it to the church December 4, 2022.

Process

  • Class visited the church weekly for researching and archiving pamphlets, brochures and videos.

  • Sought out interviews from campers and camp counselors.

  • Worked with professor to create a slide presentation based on information from primary sources and a secondary sources (e.g. Bowling Alone by Robert Putman and IGen by Jean Twenge.)

  • Used sources to complete history project on why young people need Camp Wakonda and why community is important.

  • Shared presentation with the church's Sunday School class on December 4, 2022.
